From the Czech Republic

I am a freelance translator and one of my current tasks is the green version of the Church hymnbook. And I also love music, so with a handful of sisters, my wife and myself I have started a tiny but brave choir in our little branch. We try hard to perform once or twice a month, but this has been a heavy flu season and with our little kids always bringing something from school or kindergarten, we never know who will or will not be able to sing on Sunday, so I also prepare “back-up” pieces in case someone gets ill and the particular piece has to be postponed.

Recently we were scheduled to do a hymn as a trio, and one of the sisters did get ill. I had your Abide with Me Tis Eventide (Baritone solo) prepared as a back-up, so I ended up singing. I used the new translation we have just completed, and together with your music it was a very spiritual experience. As one member put it, this one hymn said more than all the talks.

So Thank you for all you do for us. And all the best in the New Year.

Some kind words

Thank you so much for your wonderful website! Our ward had a special missionary oriented sacrament meeting with several non members attending. I played for a quartet and they sang “Jesus the Very Thought.” I love how you incorporated Our Saviors Love! It was absolutely beautiful! It was a miracle I found this piece because those were the two Hymns the quartet wanted to sing and they were able to sing them both in one! You are very talented! Thank you for sharing your fabulous music! Keep up the good work!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Our Stake Music Committee is very diligently encouraging our ward choirs to use hymns exclusively; we are equally so about honoring copyright laws. You have just expanded our music library by leaps and bounds! I suspect you will receive many blessings upon your head!

I was asked to sing for the funeral service of my wife’s grandmother. The chosen hymn was Abide With Me but we wanted something a little different from the traditional way it appears in the hymnbook. I found your baritone arrangement which was ideal for my voice. It was peaceful very well arranged. I just wanted to thank you for providing such music. I am confident it helped many to feel the Spirit during the service.

'Abide With Me, 'Tis Eventide'

I love beautiful, poignant music. I’m known as a reference person. A girl in my singing group needed a song for a baby’s funeral and the parents wanted ‘Abide With Me, ‘Tis Eventide’. I started searching and found yours. It’s really pretty! Thank you so much for making it available. God Bless you! Pat

Encouraging words

Thank you so very much for sharing these arrangements. We are a small choir in a small ward in the very rural north west corner of Utah. we can check off many of the items on “10 Ways to know if…” Being so far from town it is difficult to spend time looking at sheet music in the stores in town. Thank s again.

My ward choir performed your arrangement of ‘Come Ye Disconsolate” last Sunday. It was very nice and touching for my choir, many of whom did not know the hymn. Thank you for your generosity.

I absolutely LOVE your arrangements of our hymns, especially for piano solo. I played “I Need Thee Every Hour” for Sacrament Meeting and you could have heard a pin drop, just goose-bumps and tears. Thank-you so much.

We are serving a mission on the island of Molokai. I didn’t pack any sheet music because of luggage and weight restrictions. I was very grateful to find this lovely music. I am playing some of the pieces at a funeral tomorrow. Mahalo

Kind words from New York

08/30/09 | by lpratt [mail] | Categories: Favorites

hi linda-
I stumbled upon your website today (10 minutes ago) & I am just so excited!!! I just printed out your SAB “for the beauty of the earth” and your tenor solo “come thou fount” & they are just gorgeous. I play piano & sing & am currently the ward music chairlady person for my ward in buffalo, NY. I get so discouraged that it is hard to find good hymn arrangements (especially for free!), we have no ward music budget or library & people never have music when you ask them to do a musical number. thank goodness for you: your arrangements are STUNNING! I am so excited to use them & pass things on to my ward choir director & singers/pianists that have solos coming up & don’t know what to do.
thank you SO much for posting your gorgeous music as free downloads. what a wonderful service you are doing & furthering the Work through the wonderful spirit of music.

thanks a thousand times.

I think ward choir should be fun and spiritual and not take a lot of time people don’t have. This site sounds like a good place to help that happen.

Hello Friends!

01/28/09 | by lpratt [mail] | Categories: For my Friends

For some freaky reason the words beneath the hymn “Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me” are actually linked to the music for “Faith.” This is a good example of why the technologically impaired should be banned from maintaining their own websites. However, there is hope. The thumbnail picture is linked to the correct hymn arrangement, so if you want “Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me,” be sure to click on the little picture and not the words at the bottom. In the mean time, I will try to fix the problem without creating others! ;)
