"Jesus, Once of Humble Birth" to be posted soon

01/29/10 | by lpratt [mail] | Categories: Favorites

A number of people have been asking if I have written an Easter Cantata. I don’t have one on my site, but don’t despair! There may be something you can use on another free music site. check the links on the bottom of my home page.

In the mean time, I am posting an arrangement of “Jesus, Once of Humble Birth” that might fit nicely into an Easter program. It is not too difficult to sing or play and could be ready for Easter. I’m also hurrying to get it posted in Spanish on the Spanish site.

Preview music on line.

Thank you so much for making this music available. It’s not even so much the cost that is an issue, but for those of us who don’t live in the west, being able to preview music online is very valuable. I like to be able to look over a piece of music before I purchase it to be sure it will fit my needs.

I downloaded an SSA arrangement of “As Sisters in Zion”, which I think will work nicely for a number in our stake’s upcoming women’s conference.

A great idea for ward choirs!

As the Ward Music Director I have begun a ward music library. We had nothing at all and zero in the budget! By collecting free music, sharing with other wards and private individuals, plus a request for some funds, we are making significant strides. I greatly appreciate what you are doing to help. Thank you.

Fixed! (I hope)

OK, I think I have fixed all the spelling and notation errors in all the arrangements. Please continue to contact me if you find errors. THANKS!!

Once in Royal David's City

Linda, Thank you for your beautiful arrangement of Once in Royal David’s City. We sang it as a choir for Christmas and it was beautiful. I’ve never heard such a beautiful and gentle arrangement as that, and will save it for future use as well. Thank you SO much for sharing your talents with us.

Do what works for your choir!

There have been some questions about dynamics and tempo for the music on this site. I have chosen to keep tempo and dynamic markings to a minimum in order to give the choir director more freedom of expression in the performance of these arrangements. What works best for your choir? What are their strengths? Feel free to use these pieces as a starting point for your own personal inspiration.

Thanks!

I just want to THANK YOU for making these songs accessible for free! I am a new ward choir conductor and didn’t know where to begin. I found this site with the hymns plus and am SO excited that I found them in the comfort of my home. I will be using a couple of your arrangements in the upcoming months! I can’t choose which one though…:) They are all beautiful.

Thanks!

I just wanted to drop a note of thanks for the wonderful arrangements you have made available. My ward choir used God Be With You as a special musical number for our Stake Conference last year. I was so please with out it turned out, and there were many compliments. Not only did I enjoy the arrangement, but so did my choir and many other members.

A great idea for an instrumental solo!

Our ward choir did “For the Beauty of the Earth” for Thanksgiving with my daughter playing the flute. It was a beautiful arrangement. My daughter then went on to play just the flute part only in another ward as a solo. It was perfect for her. Thank you for sharing your talents and adding variety to the music of the church!

Thanks for the words of encouragement!
